The Never-ending Race.

It's always this time of the year that reminds me of you more.

I remember riding in your car, the scent of it when you first step in and the cold air. Makes me wanna curl up and snooze. The rides home were short, I wished they never ended.

Like a race, there are misses and I truly regret the misses I made. And like any race car driver, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

More Mohinga Please....

Mohinga..and all that goes in it.

Breakfasts are a must haves - soup noodles are comfort food for a start of a busy day. And it keeps me filled incase lunch gets delayed. Actually I think I'm very much like Dad - breakfasts must be a sumptuous one. And of cause not forgetting Mom's freshly brewed coffee sipped throughout the day.
Yesterday's breakfast was Mohinga - a traditional Burmese soup noodle dish made with fish broth served with boiled eggs, green beans, fried onion and garlic and coriander leaves as garnishes. Oh, you could add in chilli as well....to die for...yummy.

Beginning of b2

b2's raising funds by running a charity marathon this coming October. Today I received a text message for an invite to participate.....b2 & I have come a long way - our relationship hasn't been close. Rather, we have seen each other raise & fall (& raise again) in our career paths and personal lives. We got to know each other through our previous jobs in the hotel industry - I'm glad I ran into her.

I didn't know her well and neither did she know me well. But during tough times, we comforted & encouraged each other through phone calls and occasional e-mails. I've hardly seen her all this time. We never went out together - only once we had a meal at her hotel. After 3 years - maybe more, eventually, we both left the industry and kept in touch till recently. It's funny how two people can come together.

So after a few more text messages, we have agreed to run in the marathon together. My first race, so it is a challange for myself and another opportunity to get to know b2 better as from now till the race begins, we shall be planning more meet ups to train. I sense it will be a run worth running afterall (*smiles*).

Tommorrow I be in touch with her again to re-confirm if it is the 5km or 10km we're looking at...

Driven by Gym-ercise

Recently, I was intrigued by the new TRX Suspension Training which was available at the gym. However, as it is a fairly new class, I decided to give it a miss for now to avoid the crowds. Here's what it is anyhow... http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcs6gm_workout-wednesday-the-trx-suspensio_webcam . This ones really tough.

So instead, I made a little investment in the Loopz - an exercise band that is used for strength and flexibility training by working against your own body weight. Loopz is really handy and it comes along with a DVD guide and a poster of mini workouts. I tried them out and love it!

The little yellow label is printed with "Property of....." and a Loopz logo to personalise your very own Loopz. Cute! Anyone in for Loopz? http://www.wureka.com/index.php

Back to Blogging...I hope it's here to stay.

Suddenly I feel like it again - It's been 2 years now...here are some updates.

My baby daughter is now a chatty 2 year old toddler....the past 2 years has been a fairly well balanced routine. With GREAT APPRECIATION to my MOTHER who has unconditionally given her all for us.

Mom who has been working most of her life quit her job a month after Beth aka BK was born to be a full-time stay home Mother and Grandma. - We are extremely fortunate. A few of the million things she does from taking care of Beth's freshly homemade meals, daily laundry, housekeeping and being BK's companion - Mom does a fabulous job at it. BK amazes me each weekend with new words or action she's learnt (more about BK in her Blog - coming to you soon).

Weekends are Mom's 'off-days' so I get to spend quality time with BK. This means, where ever I decide to go, it has to be 'Beth-Friendly'. Thanks to accommodating friends who un-hesitatingly made their way down to where was at my convenience for a quick catch-up. Sometimes I returned home and realized that there was much that I wanted to chat about but didn't in the end as most of the time was focusing on BK - making sure she doesn't grab the fork on the table or pick food OFF the table. Sorry friends for my short attention spans - It just means we have to meet up more often to 'cover' more topics =)

Well lately I have ended my career in the hotel industry after 8 years - I'll tell you truthfully, I miss it...but BK's prority now so I know I've made the right move especially with support & advice from special people in my life who have never failed to be there for me and cared for mine and my family's well-being, even though they were not obliged too. My current job allows me more time with BK and at least I can have a decent dinner at home on weekdays too.

Last but not least, I'm still gymming as I did since my last blog 2 years ago. This time, no more threadmill running instead I've changed the training method - Body Pump (weight-lifting with barbells - lots of squats and lunges, bicep curls..ahhh i feel the adrenaline already!), Body Combat (combination of martial art techniques - POWER Cardio workout I say!) and occassionally Body Balance (little of Yoga, Pilates and Tai-Chi each - Good stretching here!).

Gotta turn in now, for tommorrow is the weekend and I can't wait to doodle with BK.

Finally blogging!

It took me months to start blogging again, it's like a New Year's Resolution I tell myself everytime I log on the net. I have so many thoughts to pen down but hardly had the time since 9 months ago.

Finally, I decided - I shall put it off no more.

9 months ago...I found out I was 1 and a half months preggy. Trying to come to terms with new commitment in life, I was too caught up in digesting the changes that were coming my way. Luckily for me, the remaining 7 and a half months was a breeze for me - no morning sickness, cravings, nothing..just the occassional lazy bug that wouldn't budge. Before I knew it, Beth Kathleen was born on 24th April'08... ...

Below are some shots of her recently.

Newly born

All bundled up for home.
